The building of the National Library is a complex three-dimensional geometric figure of 18 squares and 18 triangles. Belarusian Library has a height of 73.6 m (23 floors) and weight of 115 000 tons (not including books). The main entrance to the library is in the form of pages of an open book. At sunset on the facades of the library include the backlight, through which change colors and patterns on the building. On the roof is an observation deck for tourists. Construction began in November 2002, the new building of the National Library was opened to the public June 16, 2006.
