2008 The Image Works celebrates its 25th Anniversary. The agency continues to enjoy steady business growth in spite of seismic industry changes. For more than two decades, The Image Works has stayed true to its core values by remaining completely independent of the forces exerted by the industry giants attempting to control the market.
  The Image Works becomes North American distributor for Photo12, a Paris based photo agency that represents both public and private photo collections from across Europe. With particular strengths in French history, the archive includes fine art, religion, civilization, personalities, politics, and social history.
  The Image Works becomes North American distributor for AKG Images, one of Germany’s oldest and most significant archives of artistic works, photographs, and prints.
  The Image Works becomes North American distributor for The British Natural History Museum, one of the world’s greatest natural history museums. The museum’s collections include an incredible assortment of gems and minerals and mammal, reptile, fish, bird, plant, and insect specimens gathered from around the world.
  The Image Works becomes North American distributor for Auscape International, one of the world's foremost collections of natural history photography. The collection includes 200 of the world's top nature photographers specializing in images of wildlife and landscapes.
  The Image Works becomes exclusive North American distributor for the Zinn Arthur Archive. Zinn began his career after leaving the army at the end of WWII and for more than 30 years chronicled all the great stars of music, stage and cinema.
2007 The Image Works becomes a distributor for parts of The George Eastman House collection. The George Eastman House is the oldest photography museum in the world.
  In recognition of the Autochrome and the birth of color photography, The Image Works assembles the largest selection of Autochromes within any stock photo agency in the world. Using a light sensitive glass plate and dyed potato starch grains, the autochrome process creates lyrical and evocative color images.
  The on-line archive passes the one million image mark and continues to grow at a steady rate.
  The Image Works becomes the North American distributor of the African Pictures Archive. This archive includes both contemporary and historical imagery of Africa with an emphasis on South Africa.
2006 The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for The Alinari Archives from Italy. Founded soon after the birth of photography in 1852, this is Italy's definitive collection of Art, Culture, People, Events, Museum Collections and Photography.
  The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for MajorityWorld, a coalition of agencies from developing countries offering the work of indigenous photographers.
  The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for Sueddeutsche Zeitung , the archive of Germany's largest newspaper with one of the most significant contemporary and historical image collections in Germany.
2005 The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for the Roger-Viollet Collection from France. Started in the 1890s it is one of Europe's most significant and comprehensive historical archives.
  The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for The Lebrecht Music & Arts Photo Library, the world's most comprehensive archive for images of music, and one of the foremost resources for images of cultural activity and performance, from ancient to contemporary times.
  The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for The Mary Evans Picture Library. This unique collection of over 150,000 photographs, illustrations and engravings covers a broad range of historical and popular art.
2004 The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for The Heritage Image Partnership. The archive is distilled from the vast collections of leading British museums, libraries, institutions and archives.
  The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for The Science & Society Picture Library, this is generally considered to be the British equivalent of the Smithsonian Institution.
  The Image Works is appointed the North American distributor for The British National Trust Photo Library, a vast and unique archive that capture the beauty and spirit of the many places of natural and historical significance under the protection of Britain's National Trust.
  The Image Works acquires exclusive North American distribution rights to the Charles Walker Collection. The world's largest collection of images of myth and esoterica.
2002 Alan Carey, Co-Founder of The Image Works retires. His partner, Mark Antman becomes sole owner of the agency.
2001 After years of anticipation and preparation The Image Works converts to an exclusively digital review and supply system. All in-house research is done in both analog and digital files, but all photos sent for review to clients are sent as lightboxes or digital proofs.
1998 The Images Works moves to a new location - a 10,000 sq foot building on a 12 acre wooded campus.
1997 Comstock, after a decision to focus on commercial stock photography, transfers their editorial collection to The Image Works.
1996 Acquisition of a major portion of JB Pictures, a collection of 13 years of news and photojournalism photos.
1995 The Image Works becomes the licensing agent for the Syracuse Newspapers.
  The Image Works becomes distribution agent for From the Hip, a program which encourages teenage photographers.
1993 The Image Works was one of the first participants in the Kodak Picture Exchange - Kodak's online digital image search system.
1992 Electronic delivery of images. The agency established a system permitting photographers to upload images and digital delivery to clients.
1989 Second move to an even larger 2500 square foot building to accommodate our growth. Also in this year we were one of the first agencies to use bar-codes for tracking images. During this year the agency was also the first to offer SlideFax, an instant fax review of color slides, two years ahead of the competition.
1985 Move from spare room to 750 square foot building. Also during that time, The Image Works is one of the first stock agencies to computerize, giving us valuable early computer experience.
1984 The Image Works becomes the exclusive US agent for the Topham Picture Library.
1983 Alan Carey and Mark Antman founded The Image Works soon after meeting each other at The First New York State Duck Calling Contest.
